CANDLE CARE INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING:
DO NOT USE METAL CLASPS AS A HANDLE –
All Villa and Stone’s metal clasps are decorative ONLY.
TO PREVENT ANY SLIPPAGE, HOLD CANDLE AROUND THE LEATHER OR GLASS ONLY – Never hold the candle by the metal clasp/bar alone. The clasps are not fixed to the glass and may move when handled.

Candle Storage
Always store your candles in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Although candles are designed to be melted, excessive heat and sunlight can cause the wax to sweat. This is evident by beads that form on the surface of the candle. As the wax sweats, the scent of the candle can be affected. A candle that is not stored correctly can also have a reduced fragrance throw, may cause wax clouding and/or frosting, and may also cause the wax to pull away from the glass.

Lighting Your Candle
Before lighting your candle, trim the candle wick to approximately 7mm. The first time you use your new candle, burn for at least 2-3 hours or until the wax melts evenly across the container. Scented candles develop a ‘burn memory’ and a candle that has not been burnt right to the edges on its initial use, will ‘tunnel’ and burn unevenly through the centre of the wax.

Maximising Your Burn Time
For maximum burn time, always keep candle wicks centred and trimmed to approximately 7mm. Not only will trimming the wick help your candle to burn evenly, but it will also eliminate smoking and minimise soot forming on the glass. However, a small amount of soot around the edges of the glass vessel is normal, particularly as your candle reaches the bottom. To remove, simply wipe with a wet cloth while the glass is still warm. Ensure you position your scented candle away from drafts. A draft can result in an uneven burn and will reduce the life of your candle. Always burn your candle for at least 2 hours at a time, but never burn a scented candle for more than 4 hours after the first burn. After 4 hours, extinguish the flame and allow to cool. Once the candle has cooled, trim wick to approximately 7mm and it may be relit again. Stop burning your candle when you have about 10mm of wax left and discard. 320ml approx. 70-80 hours.

Candle Safety
Failure to follow instructions could result in fire, hazard or injury. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Do not move a lit candle. Always place candle on stable, non-flamable and heat-resistant base. Keep away from drafts. Keep out of reach of children and animals. Keep wax pool free of debris at all times.
Take care as container may be hot.

Candle Glass Re-Use
Villa and Stone candles use Scandinavian hand-blown glasses that are of the highest quality and dishwasher safe. The glasses are designed for re-use after the life of the candle. For easy post burn glass cleaning, carefully remove the leather wrap by slipping it off towards the base of the glass. If this proves too difficult, you may also remove the leather by unscrewing the screws on the clasp. Then remove the label on the base of the candle and place in a fan forced oven on approx 80 degrees. Once remaining wax has melted, remove glass with care using heat resistant gloves and dispose of the now liquified wax. Using a blunt object, safely remove the wick base at the bottom of the glass. Once the glass has cooled, wash with detergent and dry. You may then slip the leather wrap back on from the base of the glass and your Villa and Stone leather-bound glass is now ready for re-use.
